What was your first shot ?
The first and second shot were made from my bedroom window. Since I have a great view, I included them in the show.
How did your work, idea evolve ?
There was little time to evolve anything as the film and camera were stuck at customs, but I always wanted to show the beauty of Bogota. With the SX 70 I can reach places that the 8x10'' camera doesn't.
Are you happy with the result ?
The results are fine once the contrast has been increased. The colors are all in the material, they are just a bid hidden. I am happy that there are still people out there who do research and development on instant material.
What's next ?
It would be great to see how the film evolves. Maybe I get a chance to work with it. The next generation?
Born in Hamburg (Germany) in 1968, Christoph Morlinghaus studied design & photography at the "Fachhochschule School of Design & Photography" in Dortmund.
He started working as a professional in 1994, citing the great German graphic designer Otl Aicher as his primary influence. In 2002, he moved to New-York (USA) to draw the major inspiration of his career from urban landscapes, architecture and interior spaces.
The often large scale work mirrors the size of the cities and places that are his subjects, where people don't seem to exist, which gives an almost surreal, hyper-real feel. Nominated and awarded many international awards, such as the AOP (2001, 2002, 2003), the "Art directors club" award (2006), the American Photography (2007), his work can be seen in many exhibitions in London, Brighton, Miami or New-York. That's why huge brands (Nike, IBM, British Airways, Mercedes-Benz...) already trusted him.
